Oh, well, I got starte when I was 15 years old and play My grandfather was a broadcaster and so I'd grown up listening to his stories, you k working in sports and working wi and coaching staffs and stuff.
And I always had an interest in but I like playing sports.
And it wasn't until I was in hig that I had the opportunity to call a game for the first ti and fell in love with play by pl you know, being on your feet, a what was going on in front of yo at the drop of the hat You never know what's going to h I knew that' what I wanted to do with my care Wrapped up high school.
And went to the University of M and then from there worked in Al for a summer collegiate team and then went to Oregon, Minnesota, Lexington, Kentucky and then out here to Portland, M I had always known about the Se working in minor league baseball The Sea Dogs had one of the bes reputations in minor league base and it was one of those team that you wanted to always work f but knew you probably couldn't because no one ever left.
That's how good of a team it is.
My now husband was like, You have to apply.
The Sea Dogs are the best in bas You have to at least apply They actually flew me up her to Portland in February of 2020.
Fell in love with the city.
I had lobster for the first time and was like, I'm hooke then I immediately accepted the I couldn't say no.
With play by pla specifically first pitch swingin This one is crushe high and deep in the right field Kiss it goodbye.
It's gone out of Dunkin Donuts p I love how you have to prepar a two run bomb for Triston Casas Portlan takes the three two lead in the I mean, you have to do hours and hours of prep work to be basically ready for anythi Holy cow, does Casas love Hartfo you know, nothing is routine in in this industry and in this gam And that is what I loved and I you know, history and research a So it marries both of those thin of having to think on your feet and be prepared for anything.
But also knowing, oh, I have a lot to fall back o because I do so much prep work a The one one swing and a bouncing ball back u the middle.
Ferguson has it, rolls i to second it for one on to first What an incredible double play.
There's so much more to our job as a broadcaster besides the broadcast, the music starts playing.
We have some players out on the warming up.
You know we open up the windows of the bo and everyone starts to slowly c and it starts to feel like a gam That day 14, you're like, okay, this is great.
This is a really nice way to end the homestand.
And actually fans having fun wi and the players its all worth i It's great.
My first season in minor league I was the second voice in the hi of minor league baseball that w and that was that was pretty imp But as my career has gon on, seeing the way that other wo you know, joined the spor like Rylee in the booth with me second season is showing that there is an impact in me putting my face out there to say you know, women can do this.
It is making a difference, which means the world to me especially now with the daughter you know coming to the ballpark and showing her that Oh yeah, you can do whatever you Even if it's not in sports, you can do anything you want in dominated industry is a cool, co to send not only to my daughte but to the young girls everywher In ten year I would love to not be the story I would love t just be able to go to the ballpa and say, Oh, the broadcasters he and it's not a big thing.
There's Rylee and I who are the female, booth in baseball.
And in total, there's three female broadcaste in minor league baseball right n So if those numbers can gro and we can get to the point wher no longer a story to talk about, I would be very happy.
