And game number three of state championship weekend.
Dave Cheever, along with Karen Magnuson, our fellow reporter Greg Lipinski.
We had a crackerjack of A game in the B final a little earlier today.
We think this one could be just as good.
Yeah, this should be exciting.
Both teams played in the regular season.
They split.
They looked pretty, pretty evenly matched.
So be excited to see who brings what today and what's going to help them win.
Well, they had an opportunity as you said, to see each other twice this being the rubber match.
It was a ten point game and one it was a six point game in the other.
You're not in the prediction business.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And you know what's nice?
They've both played here for quite a few games now, and being comfortable on the court that you're playing on does matter.
It doesn't take as much time to settle in.
So I think that's a benefit to both of them.
Well as we said we have Greg Lipinski alongside.
And he had a chance to talk to the, coach of the Cheverus Stags, Bill Goodman.
Coach, how was the week of practice and what are your expectations for the game?
Yeah, we actually had a really good week of practice.
We worked on a lot of the things, they felt we needed to work on.
And the girls, did a great job this week.
What does South Portland bring to the table and how do you counteract it?
Well, they have a lot of talent.
They, shooters they got.
Everyone can drive.
They got tall girls like, on defense.
So it's been a tough game.
Good luck.
Thank you.
Thank to you guys.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Greg.
It's one of those things where.
Hey, Bill.
What do you really think?
Well, they have size, they have speed, they have and be able to stay in this game, Bill.
And.
Yeah, sure.
I guess we're going to do our best as the man has been for about three out of the last four years.
And he's got a great group of kids.
I'm sure he's been pretty pleased with them at it.
Can't really complain.
I mean, these are two of the top rated teams in the entire state, and I think we'll see why shortly.
Meanwhile, we have Greg going down the other end of the court where he had a chance to catch up with Bree Maloney.
Coach, obviously, Cheverus is a team you've played before, you know, what are your expectations for this game and what did you learn from playing them in the regular season?
Yeah.
Expectations are to continue playing hard the way we have all season.
Come out with high energy and lock down on defense.
We've got a young team, a couple of seniors, though.
How has the team come together?
Just at the right time?
I think all season they've just come together in different moments.
And they just have such a passion to play together.
And it shows every day.
They show up for each other and support each other.
And that's kind of what you see out here.
Awesome.
Good luck coach.
Thank you.
Back to you guys.
Well Karen, that's one of the questions I'd have there.
We'll get to it in just a minute.
But how they got here is the road to gold.
Both teams.
Playing competitive schedules.
Right.
They've able to meet up in the regular season.
Cheverus.
You know, reading some of the articles that Coach Goodman mentioned as they had some big losses but help them find their identity.
So even though they're 16 and five, he feels like they're playing their best basketball right now.
And then you could say the same thing about South Portland.
Coach felt you know, 18 and three.
But again they're coming together in the right moments.
And that's what you want.
Well Bree Maloney was talking about playing hard at this level.
When you say play hard, what does that mean?
I think it depends.
It depends what hard is of the benefit to your team.
They could be playing with a defensive intensity.
It could be the fact you want to get out with and create the pace.
It might be that you're pressing for quarter.
You might be packing it in and and help side.
And so there's I think every team has their different version of heart.
It could be lots of energy that's be taking away space.
Could be taking away space.
Could be diving on the floor.
It could be all of that.
So it's interesting to see, you know, how that groups develop on their own throughout the season.
And then what do they show us in the tournament.
Well, what they've shown already and you know, we talked a little earlier today for the class B final.
We got with the same thing here.
We have some kids who have some height.
We have some kids who have, you know, arguably some you know, obviously success.
But their composure has shown again and again and again that can come from the duress that they've already faced because they don't come in here with an unblemished record.
They don't carry the the burden of saying, well, we're undefeated.
No, you're not undefeated.
You've tasted defeat.
You don't like it, right?
And you know it.
It hasn't been an easy run.
Both teams have had to compete really hard to get to this point.
So they're used to it.

Follow this one and we got a great crowd in here.
Nice.
Oh great crowd.
They've been great crowds all morning or all early afternoon.
And I'm hoping it's going to be another exciting one.
Oh.
It's unfortunate that all of caribou had to leave.
I know I they were just so impressive.
I love there were the six man in the room, right.
Oh, I would say that.
And then some.

Ladies and gentlemen, at this time we ask that you please rise.
Remove your caps as we honor America with a singing of the national anthem by two South Portland students, senior Catherine Gibbons and Junior Rush Morrison.
Oh.
Who is, can you see by the dawn's early light.
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars.
Through the perilous spite whore.
The ramparts we watched were so gallantly me streaming.
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air.
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say, does that star spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free.
And the home of the brave.
Good.
I heard you humming along.
That was you, wasn't it?
Yeah.
Everybody sing.
That was nicely done.
Well.
Well done.
Well, South Portland's here for a little while.
For this one.
The next.
I would think so.
Yeah.
They get to enjoy their seats for just a couple extra hours.
They've got a great turnout and a great student section right from the get go.
They were already cheering and going crazy in those warm ups.
This is for us.
This is the mystery game.
We want to see which which team can impose its will.
Yeah.
Excited to see how we start.
Destiny.
Peter wins the tap.
Kaylee Corcoran to come around.
Emma Travis to Corcoran.
Let's go with a three front rims on the put is Travis Block in there.
And and both these teams have height.
And they're very, very smart defensively.
Peters knocks it loose.
Rundown by Kelly Kelly.
Avoids the travel.
Lots of good pressure right now by South Portland.
Not giving much space.
Kelly does all the gritty work.
She is fun to watch defensively.
Travis ahead it goes to end up more.
And we're going to get the blocking foul.
And what more the line.
Already you can see some chess pieces starting to go into play.
Sees Cheverus who's face guarding Whitmore late in the half court.
And the you see South Portland wanted to get out fast as they can.
I love that transition, that they got the ball to one of their top players and getting her to the line for hopefully an easy bucket here.
Always nice to start with a free throw.
Watch it go through.
And there you go.
You call for it.
You got it.
The first point on the board.
Almost a minute.
Gone here.
First quarter Philly.
Horford bothering her.
Gives the ball off Lansing.
Lampson pull up jumper I love her mid-range game Peter down to the loose ball.
Whitmore you're going to see a lot of Richard Feely tonight Travis for three yes big shot to hit when you're open.
Makes it tough to figure out how to defend.
If you're going to hit those open shots on the run and reach in is Corcoran is Addie Jordan another one of these old kids?
I mean, she's all of a sophomore.
I know.
Good hesitation.
Oh, the hand in the back.
Well she got part of it because she stopped, right.
She hesitated because her run into her Lansing, they lose control and Peters picks it up.
Travis, looking for somebody in white and red, comes to Whitmore ahead to Peter.
Crosscourt.
Here's another kid who's not afraid to bomb away Maya Lawrence.
Peter.
No good.
Picking up the loose ball, there's Goodman.
Off to Jordan.
Coach Bill Jordan hollered something on the way by set.
Play here by the Cheverus Stags in the corner to Jordan.
She lets fly with a three or bit strong play ball.
Rolled down court to Travis.
She's open.
She makes it home twice.
Never seen them twice.
Take off and be able to get stuff in transition.
Boeser easy bucket and Bill Goodman takes a quick time out.
Did somebody forget that Travis was on the floor.
You got to get back and make you you can look at it and say, gee, you know, come on Jordan, that's your girl.
No not necessarily.
The ball was still active and the offensive end for Cheverus, that's how you know you're reluctant to break away, but all of a sudden that balls will heave an easy, easy make for Emma Travis right here for Cheverus.
Like they've been wanting to pressure, but they've got to be able to score to get into their pressure a little bit easier.
So hopefully she if they're looking for they're going to run some something that's going to get a great look to what the coach wants and hoping to set up pressure.
Good defensive set here by the Red riots on the dribble Kylie Lampson takes the bump from Whitmore.
Incidental contact.
They let that go.
She splits the defense.
It's benefit of the foul call.
Kaylee Corcoran's going.
You're not calling out on me, are you?
Let's see where the.
And they call it on.
Kayla Corcoran.
What you can't see at home sometimes is just the reactions of how kids respond to plays into each other.
Lamps.
And after that was like, nodding your head like, yep, that's right.
Let's go.
And I love that.
I love seeing that fire and a player that wants the ball in the biggest game.
Good for two from the line, gets the Stags on board.
Here's that pressure.
They put Travis ahead to just keep her.
Throws it up.
Almost gets her own rebound.
Knocked Jordan to the floor.
Called for the ball.
She trailed the play.
Now she's sealed her off at a great position inside the Kelly.
Good knows she had a great sale for about six seconds and got it to make a great move.
Couldn't finish.
Travis leaves it short, gets her own rebound.
Are good on rosters on the floor.
Peter well outside.
No.
And here comes Kylie Lynch.
And again we're going to see her do a lot for this team today.
Jordan drives on Peter and that's a trade.
They're going to go in a player control foul.
On Potter that is they're getting pressure so high on her she doesn't really have many options.
You're going to have to attack when you've got some sides.
And then being able to make that rotation you can step to the middle, plant your feet, take one of the free throw that.
Lawrence back to Travis, back to Lawrence into the frontcourt down court, the pesky Peter Crosscourt.
Good and Rossiter.
And they call that a block.
I believe.
Abby Kelly is going to pick up the foul and not in the act of shooting.
She's another kid that's played very well in this tourney.
She had some big, big points against Edward Little when they were making a good run.
Travis great block runs in the traffic and they got a tie up possession arrow go to where the Cheverus Stags.
I don't think either team can surprise the other at this point.
They know what the other team is capable of.
The question is can you execute?
Yeah.
And they both teams are eight right now.
Able to do some things offensively.
Just might not be falling.
But they're getting great looks Hansen looked in the field decided against it.
Feeling looking inside oh.
Travis just turned her head.
That entry pass came in and just a quick spin to the basket.
She was communicating to her team, made a switch and she was pointing it off.
And then next thing she knew, her man had it and the ball was out of her hands in the basket.
Travis almost pinned on the sideline, leaves it off for Lawrence, flips it back to Travis, cuts through the lane.
Great seconds.
Yeah, Peter was hanging around just a little bit too long.
Great look.
That would have been a great opportunity for right there.
Again, Cheverus playing that tech that's causing these situations that Peter never got out of the lane.
Oh.
With the ball now and we only in the game for Bill Goodman.
Ball taken to the basket and count it.
Nice play by Rachel a foul.
The other thing that both coaches like to see when they sub in they want that substitute to contribute right off the bat.
That takes care of all the hitters.
Nice play by LaSalle.
She had a good read.
The block was open and she was able to attack it and get the three point play off the backboards, count it.
One point lead for Cheverus coming down the three minute mark.
First quarter girls double AA championship game.
Keely follows with more.
Has it now Travis I got a little pick and roll.
Whitmore pull up jumper.
It's going to be short.
Rolls to the floor Maya Lawrence comes out of there with it.
Off to Travis flips up and in.
And a great job.
She just ripped the ball over.
Put it down with our left hand.
Nice little mid-range Paul soft touch.
Great touch and red riots regain the lead.
Lampson gets some help, runs into a double team and a blocking foul.
Think it's going to be on Whitmore?
Maybe not.
All right.
There can't be on him and Travis.
Can read.
With two and a half left, that's 14 fouls.
You don't want to get into another one.
That's going to keep putting him on the line in this first quarter.
Holding high.
Emily back to Feeley to tries to dive Maya Lawrence off the play.
Lampson jab step takes the ball to the basket.
And that's exactly right.
That was a great jab step that set her defender off to move her more deep three no good.
Great Victoria right Travis again Peter up and in on the rebound.
That's something you had mentioned earlier today that she's going to be a difference maker on the glass for them right there.
She did.
And when Peters near Beasley I'll take her.
Take her.
She's got one for second.
Yeah.
And it's and that's me Peter clears the board back to Travis.
Travis gets away from Lampson.
She was open.
Did not want to take the shot.
Victoria Wright was.
She made her first one.
She would have done it.
Peter on the put back up and in a second line takes up a lot of space.
Well, she's just able to hold it high.
She doesn't bring it low.
She just quickly touch and bring it down.
Just back up.
That's hard to defend.
Great back door Peter with the rebound looking for white comes to Maya Lawrence into the frontcourt.
Lawrence.
Backs away from Iman still being followed now Travis.
Takes it to the basket.
No call and coming our way.
You got it now.
It was a kicks in and a beauty, I might add.
Should I dove, I would have, I could have in a younger day.
What do you when you're not concerned about with what you have to do Monday morning you would have done.
A great take, but even a greater block right there to be able to Collier is an air hose that comes in for shivers.
Bill Goodwin making sure all of his kids see the floor here.
So, great kind of come new feeling comes out, runs out of his sneaker.
It doesn't happen often.
And they can't stop play, which sinks.
Look at her.
She's going to kick it off.
Picked up and, well, let her ransom.
Interesting play there as Victoria Wright had a pretty good collision.
No foul.
Called routine.
Retrieves her sneaker excitement made her jump out of her shoes.
We've reached the end of one.
It's 12 nine South Portland over Cheverus.
We'll be back for the second quarter of play from the Cross Insurance Arena.

The environment is just awesome.
Great campus.
Small, close knit community.
Everyone's really welcoming.
Everything feels very personal.
Feel like you belong here.
As we watch the Cheverus Stags break the huddle.
Come out here for the opening of the second quarter.
I just want to say, feeling was more concerned about what our team is going to do on offense.
In her show, she kicked her shoe off.
Like, I'll put that on later.
I loved how she handled that.
Not sure how much traction she would have had with the stocking foot, but.
Moot point as she has a sneaker back and was wearing it.
Whitmore drives on field, so this is a good this is a different look across to Peter Block.
Good play by Jordan and tied up by Iara Hosa.
Possession.
Arrow Stags.
And you talk about people coming in and trying to make an impact right away.
She starts the second quarter, goes and gets the jump ball on Peter.
Looks over to Bill.
Goodman.
Gets the instruction.
Comes to Jordan Jordan is around right.
Thrives on Peter and Travis.
And he's going to go yes they're counting the basket on the line.
Yeah.
He was looking for a sideline.
I was wondering is he going to call that player control.
It almost could be.
But some.
Also calling on Peter.
That contact probably preceded the one with Travis.
Game time number three.
Maya Lawrence in the frontcourt comes to Peter.
Drop it down low.
And now back to Travis Travis.
Pull up jumper.
Yes.
Great play.
And give credit to Wright right there.
She was patient.
She knew to get the ball to she got some defenders and stepped door to give that to Travis Jordan loops it in and not held in by Abby Kelly.
So the ball go over to point and a great seal there.
But even you know better defense.
Just get a hand on Travis up the left side Maya Lawrence into the center of the court.
Ball knocked out of bounds by Gabby Kelly.
Now with Lampson back in for the Cheverus Stags.
Rachel LaSalle goes to the sideline.
Feeley checks out as well.
Whitmore to Travis.
Travis Whitmore wide open.
Great inside out.
Peter with the look at the people on the rebound again.
And it's fouled from behind.
And she might have gotten a hit on that first put back in calling the second one.
But show great job.
Always getting position being in that space to be able to get that rebound.
And that first one was a hard rebound.
And here a hoser almost got caught on one.
But it goes on to Abby Kelly on the foul.
Peter draws a lot of attention in the lane because she said she doesn't bring the ball down.
The three Jan have to go up and get it and she's going to get fouled.
But she's making her free throws.
So she doing what she needs to.
14 Arra Hosein comes to Jordan.
Addie Jordan wanted to take the ball to the basket.
Couldn't get by Travis Lampson a three point shot attempt.
No good.
Peter down on the rebound finds Whitmore.
Whitmore up the sideline to Maya Lawrence to Travis.
Nice play.
Oh nice defense.
And you're going to get another foul call.
That's too bad.
Good hustle defense on the part of the Trevor Stags.
And I mean South Portland broke that with maybe a dribble deep.
We didn't have many dribbles to break out except for her setting yourself up for contact on the arm.
There wasn't any question about the foul.
If there's something to watch in this game right now, I love the amount of kids that are taking a mid-range pull up rather than continuing to attack to.
The defense is just sitting on the block already for them, right?
And then making making that a more effective take on this.
They're just they're taking what the defense is giving them.
And those are high percentage shots themselves.
1712 our scorer ERA Josie into the front court.
Watch by Woodlawn.
Oh good play rights come in contributed in quiet ways.
She bothered that play on Goodman's.
She's just making really solid decisions for her team.
Jordan tries to drive on.
Be careful not to pick up another one area.
Hosa steps around Maya Lawrence, but Lawrence on the handshake is going to get call for the foul.
There's certain kids that just have to be careful of not picking up her second or third foul, because they need them on the court, Peter is one of those.
The drive someone who works.
You see her patience and a footwork and jabs just to move the defense.
Look at that on the move.
Nice press breaker.
Travis on the run again Peter on the putback.
Yes we're having the Travis Peters show right now Travis pulling up some floaters and mid range player.
As they crossed the midcourt.
They looked at each other and had so much more.
Now we have a system.
It's working.
Yeah.
You keep doing you all keep doing me Lampson solid defense right there by Maya Lawrence.
Here comes Whitmore.
She's is on the run.
Pull up!
Yes, that's a strong finish.
You can see her get composed.
And being able to use her body to finish strong.
Jordan on the run.
Comes to Goodman.
Going to the floor is right.
Tie up possession arrow.
South Portland.
She got the rebound right before this.
That led to that transition basket.
She got another rebound there to give her team the possession.
Rights doing those small things I don't always go notice.
But we're noticing sometimes it's not the points you scored the points you keep the other team from scoring.
Yeah.
Right now she's been doing that part in the punch.
Whitmore picks up the dribble comes to Lawrence Lawrence looked inside to Peter.
Thought better of it Travis watch Mike Goodman crown to Lawrence Whitmore for three.
Rattles out.
Here comes zero Hosa.
Leaves it off for Lampson.
And a man defense here by the Red riots.
Goodman trying to get away from right deep three by Lampson.
Good boards too strong by Jordan Jordan one with the foul call.
Didn't get it.
Which is crosscourt to Lawrence.
She's wide open.
Get a lot in that in the regional tournament she finds the range.
Next thing you know he has chest for threes.
And I think it's Jenny I Lampson steps inside.
Nice move.
Ball doesn't drop.
The flip ahead to Lawrence Lawrence on the drive.
Good defense by Addy Jordan.
Boy she could do so many things.
She played point guard post on block shots.
Tack off the dribble.
Look at her time.
It.
Did you see her come take those short steps to be like I know I'm going to elevate when I see the ball rise.
Well positioned and and in the right posture.

334 to go second quarter seven point lead for the red riots of South Portland over the Cheverus Stags.
Of north to south.
It's kind of minimal here.
You draw a line.
Direct line.
I don't think there's a mile difference in latitude between the two schools now.

Yeah, yeah.

Yeah.

Whitmore is a sophomore.
Travis is a senior playing like a senior.
And you got Peter, who's a junior.
You should get it in.
And it's stolen by Jordan.
But I think part of that is and you've seen it with with your kids, they're getting better coaching at an earlier age.
Playing Lansing for three, not a basketball.
And that right there is because a lot of basketball.
What a beautiful shot.
That 10s is going to go by in a hurry.
Whitmore up to Lawrence.
Lawrence around feeling.
Lampson steps back away.
She's an awesome one and wanted to make the exchange.
Didn't happen.
Feeling.
Jordan.
Jordan drives on.
Travis, picks up the dribble.
Didn't have to.
Travis frontcourt drives on Jordan puts it good in Rossiter.
Lawrence has three well short tips.
Did not get it.
No.
Did not get it.
And again it looks like it's the regular three point line.
But that's that's three feet difference.
I it's hard.
There's four lines out there.
The black the red the white, the red.
Jordan tries to go back door to Lampson.
Makes it tough too much.
She does it well, she caught it, came down right into her shot.
A little off balance play.
Travis and took it to the front court to Lawrence for three.
It's too strong.
See the adjustment now?
She's standing three feet closer.
Yeah.
Gotta get through the calibration here.
Almost on the move.
For the most part.
They're doing a great job of breaking this press.
And you just you never know what they are wanting to run.
But pressure always rushes the offense.
Maddie Jordan drives on destiny Peter.
And you're going to get it.
Hand check on Peter.
This is one where you you know, you're 30 something feet away from the basket.
Not really needing to do that except Jordan is buying.
Had a career that I think that's a tough matchup.
Right?
Jordan is tall like a center and is playing point guard Lampson into Jordan.
Lampson.
Gets a little help.
Love lets it fly.
No ball goes to the floor.
We get.
A scrum.
Nice work by South Portland.
For Corcoran.
Came out of there with the ball.
Finds some help.
Here comes Whitman.
Whitmarsh bothered by field.
Travis steps away from Lampson, takes it at Jordan.
Wright.
Nice play.
And Feeley lost the ball.
Picked it up.
Travis again on the go.
It's tough.
Moseley would see the ball, but her job is Whitmore.
Whitmore the ball came by the ball.
But sometimes that's your job.
You just stick to your.
Final 45 seconds in the first quarter.
And Jordan doesn't drop.
Oh there's tryptophan.
That's excuse me 36 second half.
So here we have a four point game.
South Portland with the ball and the lead the inbound.
The tough part on that as it trip is a trap.
You got to call that a foul no matter what.
Even if she didn't think it was right boy she can time those up.
It's interesting that Philly shot off the inbounds pass to Whitmore.
So they had to go to option B Lampson for three.
Right line but just short Maya Lawrence is tied up by Rachel Feeley.
It's going to stay Cheverus basketball I want to give a shout out to Coach Goodman.
He's run that play since 2012 when I coached against him.
So there's that leap party years of that fade screen.
But I'll tell you it gets his shooters great looking shots and you want to get that shot for Lampson.
Whitmore is doing the same thing trying to keep the ball from Lampson.
She never even saw the pass.
Right.
You can tell right now she's not even looking.
Five for one now.
Jordan gets a clear look.
Jordan gets a clear make.
That'll do it.
A two point game going in the half.
A great effort for the last 23.

Obviously, and as you look at the game, the.
Second and third.
Tonight these girls I don't believe about oh you're going to do more than three.
I thought the crossing here for a second time Boston on the players.
Right off the line.
I don't know if someone came with our town on the Upper East Side saying some offensive turnovers, and we gotta kind of do three.
And so again.

Our fellow reporter Greg Levinsky standing by.
He's got a special guest.
I do have a special guest.
And that's Owen Maloney, 2022 South Portland grad.
You're the captain of the team that won a state title and that they won the next year, too.
Yeah, I mean, what a run has been for South Portland basketball.
And obviously your sister, the girls coach here, what's it been like?
You know, living and being with the coach.
And I heard you're on the scouting team too.
Yeah, it's been awesome.
Just from the boys side watching them.
You know, this could be three out of four tonight.
And, for my sister, just, you know, obviously I was there during her high school career, and then later at Saint Joe's.
So just watching her, you know, it's been really proud from the sidelines.
And obviously my dad helping her out.
It's just it's a joy to watch.
Absolutely.
We talk to you kind of want to get into coaching at some point too right.
What's that path maybe going to look like.
You know hopefully you know it's something down the road.
Hopefully.
You know, maybe I can link up with her.
But like just watching her this year, like, there's so much to learn from her.
Like, she's super smart and, she knows how to handle, like, relating to the girls, and it's it's super cool.
Some kids that you did play with are still on the South Portland boys team.
What's it like to see them?
You know, kind of grow up and take on those roles?
Yeah, I mean, man, he was a freshman my senior year and he practiced with us every day.
And you knew from that moment on he had a huge chip on his shoulder.
And so watching him now turn into the player he is it's it's awesome to watch him.
Awesome.
Thank you.
Oh and back to you guys.
Thanks.
Thank you Greg Shivers is back out here warming up.
They're only trailing by two.
Third quarter coming up.
Anything here that sticks out to you oh I mean a producer there look pretty similar.
One free from the 322 to 16 shots in the half.
Both teams are getting to the line.
Each team's got players that are leading their team in scoring.
I mean, this is this is a really even matched game.
Nobody's going to go away yet.
Oh, and they're scoring in different ways.
Right.
Well, we talked about a little bit over that break is you got each team is taking away the other team's best player.
Whitmore is face guarding Lampson.
And you've got Feeley who's face guarding Whitmore.
Are you going?
Yeah.
The people are making plays.
We'll be back.
That's every quarter of play.

Cheverus tax break to huddle as they come out for the third quarter of play.
Here.
Trailing by two.
South Portland will open with the ball and the lead.
Looks like they have the same strategy going so far.
Bailey's going to start on Whitmore and try to take make it hard for her Emma Travis inbounds the ball to Whitmore.
Feeling pressure staying right with her.
Ball knocked out of bounds by Feeley.
Well you mentioned in the first half how dedicated she is to her assignment.
You know it's the ball comes back.
That's not her issue.
Her issues stopping whether it's going to be Whitmore or there's going to be you know, pick one anyone.
Right.
That's if that's the girl she's supposed to be guarding.
That's what she does right in this.
I mean, it's not that you don't want to go after it, but it's don't lose track here, man.
And sometimes that means you're looking at your man.
Destiny was looking for somebody to pass to.
And as she did, she shuffled her feet.
You're probably calling.
Here come the stands.
Lampson drives on.
Travis, pulls up and reach and fouled from behind by Kaylee Corcoran.
And she was just nice and patient there.
And not even that.
She just stepped through.
She kind of just brought the ball to the outside.
It was just kind of kind of floated up and got hit from behind.
Good.
Look at Kylie Lampson.
And this is the first free throw.
A lot of times I think officials want to see the hand going up rather than down on a blocked shot.
Right.
If you hit the ball, your hands are still going up.
Corcoran is thinking, oh, yeah, I hit the ball.
Yeah, but then you follow through and hit hers.
All right.
Whitmore kicks the ball up.
Court to Lawrence steps inside.
Goodman and a kick ball.
Nice play by Kelly.
Wrong sport but good move.
By.
Lampson found it amusing.
And why not?
Peter puts the ball to the floor and goes off.
Andy Jordan out of bounds.
Did some really good movement there with Whitmore moving off for the ball.
She had a great cut to the rim is something they can try to look for more more from her in the half.
Travis thrives on feeling and a blocking foul is on Rachel feeling, pleading her case but not finding any sympathy from the official.
Because she's still moving laterally.
Difficult to say.
Oh yeah, that's player control.
She's still got her sneakers on.
Yeah, yeah yeah.
And I like the determination that Emma Travis is showing.
You know, this is my responsibility.
I'm going to take the ball to the basket once I start going.
Things can open up or they close.
Either way, I have a plan, but she's under control.
So she's able to shift her body enough not to get those charge corners.
Lead us for.
Lansing.
That's the theory.
Back to Lansing.
That's the play.
Thought of that going up big.
She got it in.
Jordan steps around this ball, goes to the floor looking for some help.
Finds Goodman back to Jordan.
Thinks about it now.
Goes to lamps and lamps and down the lane.
Runner no good.
Put back up by Kelly.
That's strong.
Goodman comes out with a loose ball.
Good defense to get that back.
Jordan steps through, puts it up and in again.
Such body control by these athletes being able to finish on the move.
Ripping the ball over.
Whitmore gallops into the front court and I don't think she attempted to even get that with her hands.
You just like up.
Oh stop there.
I tried to put does she play soccer watching ready?
She goes Boop.
Yep.
Got to be careful.
That does chip rub though.
That's got to be a foul.
But she got bombed.
Travis steps around Lance and drops it down low.
Oh nice.
Peter out.
Nice pass and pass across the paint.
Peter Corcoran elevate.
She's just a catch release from right where she caught it.
Nice play by Katie Corcoran.
Great on it Peter.
And that's not a soft pass either.
That had to be zipped.
Lampson for three.
No.
Whitmore down low.
The loose ball.
Corcoran set a nice pick.
Back comes Travis has Peter Peter up.
And in.
Nice solid two on one break and Goodman is over there.
He's got his hands on his hips.
Let's go.
Come on kids, you should be able to get back on this six point lead.
South Portland.
Goodman.
Whitmore hanging with her.
Drops it off to Lance, and Travis steps back.
All right.
What are you going to do?
Kind the looping to Kelly up and in that had such a great spin on it that allowed it to go over that rim winning long front court comes to Lawrence Lawrence steps inside Jordan Peter on the far side.
They run it down.
Feeley picks up the loose ball.
Lawrence.
Of avoids the contact.
Perhaps not by South Portland standards.
They wanted a little bit of an elbow and feeling couldn't get it down low.
Nice place.
Oh wow.
That's a beautiful move.
She got me on the first fake and got me on the second Corcoran jumper.
No good.
Kelly down to the loose ball for the Cheverus Stags.
They trailed by two.
Nothing to choose here from where we started the third quarter I want to see the ball go back to Kelly I enjoyed that move way too much.
You may get a chance here down the lane.
Is Jordan too strong?
Feeling with the rebound.
Gets swallowed up inside.
Goodman for three short.
Whitmore picks up the loose ball ahead.
Nice play to Travis Travis up and in.
And that's what they do.
Well they got about four points or so in transition up court instantly.
Well they're taking off as soon as they get that rebound.
Lampson nice move to get inside.
Gets her own rebound.
Puts it back up.
She's back.
Bill Goodman wants a quick time out here.
Just a 3331 to go in the third quarter.
Lamb move that made her defender go left.
That was impressive.
But then even to get that second shot and have a beautiful touch kind of fading away from the defender not to get a blocked.

Third quarter two point game 3129.
South Portland has not relinquished that lead.
Not exactly running away with anything either, as East teams, evenly matched as they are.
Whitmore picked up the dribble looking for help.
Comes to Lawrence.
Lawrence kicks it ahead to Corcoran.
Travis.
Looking for help.
Comes to Whitmore.
Nice play by Corcoran.
Oh, yeah.
That idea.
She was trying to lead her to an open space.
She got the pick, but she didn't get the roll.
Now.
Far side.
Great.
And picked up by Whitmore.
Everybody goes to the floor.
Loose ball.
Now to Clarkson.
Lampson comes out on her.
Corcoran slows the dribble.
Wants somebody.
And white finds Maya Lawrence Corcoran.
Oh.
Thought of going for three instead.
Goes into Travis.
Down to destiny.
Peter up and in both those two great bounce passes a bounce pass for the back door.
Bounce pass to the short corner.
Took a dribble to finish.
You know how valuable that technique.
Very good.
Fundamentals of great coaching.
Lampson.
Let's fly with three around the rim.
No good.
You know one of those is going to draw.
And it looks too pretty not to Maya Lawrence steps away from the double.
Team comes to Whitmore.
Whitmore for three.
Yes.
Big shot.
You leave.
You leave her open once.
She'll get you.
Jordan tries to take it to the hole.
Does.
Oh, he gets the basket and the foul is Lawrence.
Couldn't go up with it on the wall.
Look at this body control.
She gets into her and then holds to finish.
Doesn't get bumped off.
Takes that contact.
Finishes for an and one one.
Good look.
Addison Jordan for the missed free throw.
Great ball five point lead.
Red riots.
Corcoran into the front court on the bounce.
Takes a look.
Pull up jumper.
It's a little easy.
Just a little floater.
Beginning of the paint.
She's sneaking up on Cheverus here in the second half.
And a quiet first half.
All of a sudden the stat sheet starts filling up with Corcoran's name.
That's to it.
Lampson.
Nice move.
They try to go inside.
Peter gets a hand in the passing lane.
Back comes Whitmore.
And another soccer play.
You know, those are.
They're making sometimes those breakdowns.
OKC is this great defense.
You can see that she comes cut on the high side.
Like I'm going to give you a little bit of the right.
I'm going to assume you're going to pass right.
95% of players are going to make that pass because they're taking away some of that.
Those opportunities on those breakdowns.
Credit to Maya Lawrence for three.
She's do it's not on that one.
Back to Whitmore travels.
Yeah Lawrence she's doing a great job of taking the shots when given she hasn't had a couple of fall for her, but she will.
Going in and Emily going out for Cheverus.
Rachel Soule checks out as well.
Lampson a minute to go here.
Third quarter, seven point lead.
South Portland.
But as we've seen, seven point lead and disappear in a hurry.
Yes.
Jordan.
Back to Goodman.
Back to Jordan.
Goodman.
Not having a whole lot of room to shoot.
Jordan turns on Corcoran.
Back out high to Kelly.
No, Ella.
Travis.
Plenty of time.
Takes it to the baseline.
Picks up the dribble.
I said Corcoran.
Great shot.
Corcoran.
She just fills space to the right open area to get those easy looks.
But Travis knows where the right open area is.
She was able to make that pass and that conversion makes it a nine point lead.
Right.
Comes back in.
Who's checking out?
Oh, Haley Corcoran a lot of contributions here in the third quarter.
Travis has got blood on her knee.
She wipes is like, oh, I got blood.
And she wipes it in like, let's get rid of this real quick.
Abby Kelly.
Nice play.
Abby.
And that'll do it.
The Hornet shot into the third quarter.
The class AA girls state championship game has eight minutes left.
It's a seven point lead for the Red riots in South Portland over the Cheverus Stags.

Eddie Jordan sets up on the sideline as the Cheverus Stags will inbound, trailing by seven here to open the fourth quarter of play in the state championship game.
This has been a great game.
I honestly like both teams are doing great things and playing some of their best basketball.
What I like to do is focus on their intelligence too.
Yes.
Great stat that was well done.
Nice pass by Jordan.
Credit to Coach Goodman.
What.
Drawing that one up.
Travis crosscourt to Maya Lawrence.
After the regional.
Maya must think she's deserted out here.
Oh, nice.
Three point shot by Whitmore.
Tough.
You just can't give her opportunities.
How good is she that you deny her?
Don't leave her open.
And then the couple times you do, she scores it.
And Maya Lawrence is scoring.
I could have made that shot.
Yeah.
Feeley into the lane.
It's going to get fouled by Lawrence and go to the line.
Eight point game here as a great attack by her.
She's tended to be a lot like their locked down defender.
That is her job.
But plays like that are needed down there.
Every now and then.
You got to keep everybody honest.
Yeah.
And that's one way to do it.
Good.
Good for two from the line.
Travis to inbound.
Looking for help.
Comes to Whitmore.
Back to Travis.
Stolen by Feeley.
Down low.
And Goodman misses the shot.
She'd like to have that one back.
Corcoran, back on the floor, comes to Lawrence.
Lawrence spins out of traffic.
Whitmore down the lane.
Pull up!
Oh, and a Corcoran up.
Oh, great job dragging that defense out and dropping that down on the block.
Come to her.
She'll find Corcoran.
You stay away from her.
She's going to pop the shot.
Nicely done.
Lampson tries to go inside to Goodman, but Whitmore gets a hand on it.
She's taken before by Kelly.
No call.
Three point shot by Lampson.
Good out of Kelly.
Somebody get the name of that truck.
Just ran by me, She's better now.
Corcoran.
And again, Jordan with a quick play.
Do you think that's practiced?
Do you think Goodman knows a lot about soccer?
Well, she knows a lot about how South Portland plays.
Oh, they're so smart.
They're just able to stop those opportunities.
Five point game.
The loop into Travis Travis.
Oh, Destin.
Peter can have that moving pick that end up being her third.
Abby Kelly keeps adjusting her jaw like that last one hurt was like, 618 to go clock moving Lampson on the dribble.
Talks to Jordan on the way behind.
They come to Goodman and Whitmore jumps all over that pass.
And Bill Goodman.
Gives Lance a little bit of a little bit of encouragement.
Let's put it down.
You gotta go set.
You got to go, you know, get indoor to pop out because if not, she's going to get those steals.
Kelly turns.
Okay.
We got a blood timeout for Abby Kelly.
Yes.
So they go to trainer and Travis.
They were smart.
In between quarters.
They take turns.
It's by the way, do you miss a game.

Rachel also wanted to make the pass, but she had momentum going, lost her balance.
Travis to Whitmore.
Whitmore double team and grab by LaSalle.
You know again it's fun watching players like her and Lampson.
And honestly so many of these players here they get in traps and they don't freak out.
They get in the trap and then they just are patient.
They pivot, pivot and then they split when they see the opportunity.
Destiny Peter called for the ball, gets it back to Travis.
Travis through traffic doesn't make it.
Here comes Lampson on the run up and in Wade a three point game.
Corcoran.
Back to Whitmore.
Missile picks up Whitmore.
Whitmore gets five ahead to Corcoran.
Feeley bothering Corcoran.
Who's going nuts.
This kid doing fairly racing around high energy.
Kid.
Whitmore has it.
Block Porter Peter run it back to Travis.
Download of Corcoran and crawls up over him.
Destiny Peters going to fall for she reached over the top.
Cheverus is doing a great job of finding her this half.
First half she was getting those uncontested.
This half they're putting one two bodies on her.
Great adjustment.
Five minutes to go in the fourth quarter and Lampson she looked at Kiwi feet.
Feeling was either supposed to come to her or stay.
Which was as it was through the rhythm of the play off.
Three Maloney wants a timeout.

And I'll tell you inside that mascot costume, it does get worn.
Are you are you?
Tell me he's not real.
I don't want to burst your bubble.
No, I would never tell you that.
This is going to be a fun five minutes.
And my traveling game.
I'm going to inbound the ball and player, leaving Whitmore alone for just a moment in the back court.
You.
He's going to pick her up at the midcourt line.
Whitmore gets around her, puts up the runner, and Whitmore will go to the line.
And Feeley is still looking around saying, you can call out on me and.
It's on Abby Kelly.
So feelings right?
It wasn't on her.
Just I wouldn't be surprised if that was Maloney's call on the play.
Get it into Whitmore.
Clear out.
Give her some room coming up the right side.
Which they did.
Right.
And Cheverus played, you know, zone for a little bit there.
And now they've got a match back.
They're going to try to limit will Whitmore does.
He couldn't stop on that drive.
Five point lead under five minutes to play.
Goodman back on the floor for Cheverus.
Feeley checks out.
Lampson on the dribble approaching half court Emma Travis waiting for her.
Out.
Lampson tried to get around Travis.
It didn't work.
She let it fly for three.
Around the rim.
No good run down.
Nice play.
I had to I had to Jordan.
Jordan.
Great defense Kelly open around.
No good.
Whitmore down to the loose ball finds Kaylee Corcoran Travis in the middle of the floor.
Comes to Lawrence.
Back to Travis.
To Whitmore.
Taking a look at Lawrence.
Clement picks her up.
Soule South stays right with Whitmore.
Travis Lampson on her.
Travis tries to go inside.
Doesn't go.
And back come the Cheverus Stags trailing by five under four minutes to play.
Fourth quarter.
Jordan wants to get around.
Corcoran doesn't work out.
Hi, Kelly.
Open for three.
Takes it in, scoops it up.
Doesn't go back.
Comes Travis away to Corcoran.
Corcoran front court picks up the dribble.
Finds Whitmore.
Three and a half to go.
Such great play back and forth.
Not many points in the last minute or so, but.
Players trying to be a tribute to the respective defenses.
What a play like Kylie Lampson tied that ball up.
It remains South Portland.
Also gave great minutes opportunities for kids to get rest, come in, play tough defense.
Those are important minutes for anybody coming off the bench for Cheverus and Peters coming in.
Fisher couldn't.
Rossiter goes out.
Travis steps away from Lampson comes back to Lawrence.
Corcoran look down low now into the lane.
Jumper range.
Beautiful Jordan with the rebound.
Corcoran on the defense.
Get the ball ahead to Lampson.
Down low to Feeley.
Saves.
It was picked off by Corcoran.
Whitmore steps away from traffic.
Do you see how she beat that pressure.
She could have been in a bad situation just by three.
Pull back.
Didn't need to force it.
Yeah.
Create a space.
Corcoran to Travis.
To Lawrence.
Destiny.
Peter didn't fool Abby Kelly on that one.
She wasn't going.
She was not going to shoot.
She tends to play this high post.
Helping to screen relieves pressure, drives on Feeley.
Comes to Corcoran.
Come down to the two minute mark.
Great cut five point game.
Cheverus needs points to get points.
They need the ball.
Travis Jordan puts a hand on it, but it's not going to get the call.
And now they will blow the whistle.
And check on Addie Jordan as they cross under two minutes.
So that's a teams third foul.
They have two more to give LaSalle and Summerlin come in.
Brings Taylor.
Goodman goes out and Lampson goes up.
The pressure on that Cheverus was applying so much pressure that they were running cutters through the lane there may be able to get a wide open layup if they continue to waste a little bit of time and then look for some cutters.
Travis comes to Corcoran, bothered by Jordan and Jordan going to pick up the foul that took 10s off the clock.
Goodman and Lampson come back in so that and was out of her fourth.
That was her fourth time.
So that was Jordan's fourth.
And that's what it's going to be.
If you're going to foul on purpose, don't waste them on the kids that if this goes overtime, you got to make sure that they're staying in the game.
You couldn't just define Kelly.
Check out right.
Whitmore runs away and Goodman commits the foul on Emma Travis very well.
Travis will go to the line and back from Jordan.
And this is why you have offensive and defensive players coming out.
You put a couple kids in there going to do the fouls, get them to the line and then sub the other kids back in.
They're not they're staying out of foul trouble.
So they're able to hopefully put up some points.
See what Travis has had that knee covered up number 20.
You picked up on that.
Yeah.
Skim the knee.
Rub the blood around.
So kind of blend it in.
She missed the first year the second.
And just like that it's a six point game.
And Cheverus plenty of time left.
Oh you seen that in the games this weekend.
Oh watch someone hits the three lamps and sticks.
One good and one feeling doesn't go.
Whitmore fouled by feeling.
And we'll have free throws.
It's the South Portland fans are feeling.
And they're getting excited.
Now Goodman wanted the ball and Feeley couldn't get it to her.
It was just the angle wasn't there for the past.
So there's a little frustration on the part of of Goodman and Finley turns the corner goes, well, I might be able to get the shot in and didn't work, but if anyone's watched any tournament games at all, you're never out of it.
So.
Goodman runs up the right side, and Bill Goodman wants a timeout with 124 to go in the fourth six point game.
Cheverus with the ball but trailing.
So be interesting to see what he's going to go for here.
She's going to want to I want a set for three.
Or if he's and get a quick two offer this I always get excited watching.
What is he going to drive?
Yeah it's crazy.
Hey look.
I thought for a minute that we're being visited.
We want your autograph.
That's all I can say.
I would assume some sort of a set that's going to work on getting lamps in the ball and maybe even getting, like, maybe a screen and roll action.
Working with Jordan and Lamps.
Going to set a post up with Kelly.
I haven't mentioned Jordan in this one because but and then you got a post up with Kelly.
Naturally having all those options to work in your timeout, Lampson will inbound.
So maybe it'll be an inbound and maybe a screen three I don't know.
I'm excited.
Here we go.
They got seven stags.
They trailed by six inbound to Jordan three oh.
Phil Goodman is saying that was touched.
And they're going to converse.
Oh.
They may come over to this replay.
Can they do that?
None of the officials saw a fingertip touch.
That's it by anybody from South Portland.
Oh, it kind of, that angle.
It kind of looks like it might get tipped.
Travis to Whitmore.
Whitmore.
She she got out of that quick.
Up the floor to Maya Lawrence.
And quick timeout.
Great timeout there at nine and a half there.
Bree Maloney going there I guess I'll do one.
I don't want to give up the ball just yet.
Great timeout 109 to play.
So impressed with how quickly Whitmore can change a situation.
It look like oh there's going to become a hard double.
It was one crossover like and she's out of it.
And all of a sudden she all around her.
How did that happen.
Yeah she's just she's so smart with where to go with the ball and how to alleviate the pressure.
And again a sophomore.
Yeah.
So Maya Lawrence, destiny.
Peter.
At Whitmore court room and Travis on the floor for the Red riots.
Final minute of play.
Whitmore crosscourt to Travis.
Travis needs to get it ahead into the front court.
Does Peter with it to Lawrence.
Lawrence down low to Corcoran.
Corcoran up and in.
Pass.
Nice job moving the basketball.
Not waiting to get fouled.
Jordan for three.
It's going to be well short.
42.7 seconds to go eight point lead South Portland with the ball.
And that lead.
Into Whitmore again.
The safety net for the South Portland red riots to Peter.
Down court to Maya Lawrence Lawrence takes the drive puts it up too strong Peter on the putback.
Hey we've seen that a couple of times this game.
What a great job by South Portland.
Just taking care of pressure by getting open.
Looks at the rim Phil Goodman takes the timeout.
Bree Maloney's saying okay is it the third year of the full.
It doesn't really matter.
They have 27.6 seconds to go in this.
And the South Portland fans, as you have noticed as we're looking at them, they sure they can guess the outcome of this one.
I'll tell you, adding those little towels, that makes that look a lot of fun in those towns.
I love when communities come out like they do with such large numbers coming here to support.
We saw it with Caribou and Biddeford.
You're seeing it right now.
South Portland and Cheverus behind us.
Win or lose, these players really appreciate their fans coming out and cheering for him.
And.
That was South Portland's time out.
Can't call time timeout when they hit the ball.
Doesn't matter.
Whitmore in the corner to Lawrence doesn't need to shoot.
And fouled by Goodman.
Ten point game.
The second.
By Whitmore in Destiny Peters step back five.
Well out of play.
Maya Lawrence on the free throw.
Well, both games between these teams, the regular season will close for ten, ten and six.
Yeah.
Peter goes out right.
Comes in.
Contributions from Destiny.
Peter the night.
Contributions from everybody.
As Lawrence is good for two from the line 12 point game.
Lampson let's fly with a three.
Makes it three and.
And now Bill Goodman wants a timeout.
Eight seconds to go.
Still here on you look at the kids competing eight seconds.
They could have easily just show up and like I don't know.
Yeah yeah.
They staying focused I this is a great look at this.
Four feet behind the original five feet behind the original three off the dribble Stefan.
Well this afternoon we saw four point scored and point four seconds.
Yeah.
So.
Oh I just don't know.
But I just love how much they continue to compete.
And for Cheverus most of these kids are coming back.
Seeley is a senior and they're going to lose hurt you know defensive tenacity and leadership.
A lot of these kids are coming back.
Will be able to have another run at it.
If they take off this cork and want to throw it now, Whitmore and they're going to call a foul instead of a tie up.
And Whitmore will shoot free throws with 5.9 seconds.
She's just so strong.
You go in to reach to get the ball, and then she just rips through your arms.
And then if you continue to try to grab the ball, eventually just grabbing her arm and they're going to call it, I was just thinking like a overhead two handed, you know, half court, send it and go and make them chase you down.
Would take some time as long as somebody touched the inbounds.
Right.
But hey, well, at least you got Whitmore, so let's just give it to her.
Yeah.
She misses them both.
They stay away.
Lampson blocked by Whitmore.
While Lawrence gives her teammate a shot.
Oh, they call it a foul.
No, really.
Lance Whitmore, left, and give a high five to each other.
Well, I think, you know, they've offices looking like they've known each other before this.
You see this shot go up.
But, you know, they look like they've known each other before this I've seen a couple times and kind of tap each other.
I think they have some was like.
Yeah.
And happened to respect the competitors.
Yes.
And probably at some point forgive us for not knowing the precise details, but I bet they've been teammates before as well.
Oh, probably.
Lance and makes it a six point game.
In the end it goes to Whitmore.
And that does it.
Your class AA state champions of the South Portland Red riots.
Congratulations.
Look at that celebration.
There's those towels.
You can look at that sea of red with their white towels celebrating in the stands as the girls are celebrating on the court.
Oh.
It's fun to be a part of these great moments.
Watching these kids live out dreams.
For 20.
Nine and the beauty of it is, so many of them are so young.
And they go, well, we'll be back here next year.
Yeah, right.
You know, Rachel is feeling it.
Because she has to turn in the uniform.
But everybody wants to say, hey, I know you guys ready?
We can do this again.
What a great game by both teams, though.
Well, you know, you've played on teams that are built first with defense.
Yeah.
Because if you can't defend you know it's going to be a lot of long nights.
But these kids and again you talked about the the techniques that they have mastered or at least been quite familiar with, even if they haven't mastered them.
It is impressive to watch how skilled these young kids are.
Oh, they're at an advanced level for their offense.
Yes.
Or what we think is an advanced level.
Maybe it's becoming more and more common.
Right now.
I think what you want as a fan who is not in on any team to win and you're watching, you want both teams to play well and that happens right?
You're going to South Portland pulled this went out well.
You play this ten times and have them play similar what they played tonight.
It's going to go either way.
It's who's making the run in those moments.
Kind of a good look at.
Any with more I think she has the respect in regard of her teammates.
For the.
It's fun watching them climb up.
Try to get their piece of the net.
Figuring out how to get it cut.
Well, I know a couple of players who were able to cut down the nets, and they still have their piece there.
Yeah.
This is what they talk about, right?
When you get into games like this, it could be the week leading up.
It could be the day before.
It could be the last ride on that day.
Yeah.
So how are we cutting the nets?
What side are we going on.
Who's who's swinging at these.
Going second.
Yeah.
How much Travis is trying to keep up as she had more getting the last of the the webbing.
Hey I only got a few minutes, boys.
Double a state championship game in here.
This is a great weekend.
Oh, she's waiting for a teammate.
And they have it.
Oh, That could play in a really strong game.
So many moments for Travis, for Peter and for Whitmore.
And then just the nice defensive efforts by Lawrence Corcoran.
Corcoran.
She had a run where she just felt like the ball always found her.
If so many parts that made made them as good as they are, made them state champs.
The whole team is on their exceptional championship level of play throughout the 2025 tournament.

Welcome back to the Cross Insurance Arena.
Congratulations to the South Portland Red riots and the Cheverus Stags.
Two, nice championship game and nice championship game atmosphere.
And that's game three of four here tonight.
The boys double eight game is coming in right after this.
The girls are heading off the court.
They're going to get it with our flurry toward a Greg Levinsky here in just a second.
But fun night.
Oh some great games here today.
And again we talked to a little bit about this.
Both teams played hard and did what they do well.
Just ended up South Portland made bigger plays in the biggest moments to keep that lead and be able to pull away at the end.
Greg Levinsky is pretty close to the goal ball himself.
Greg, I am close to the goal ball.
How does it feel to hold that right now?
It's absolutely surreal.
The way you play today was fun to watch.
Defensively, you were locked in without guarding Kylie Lampson and not lag there.
Sometimes it felt like the ball might be in transition.
You don't even know because you're so locked out in there.
How'd you approach the assignment?
Yeah, I mean, she's a good player, so we knew we had to come out with our best, and all five of us did that.
So we just had to lock in on defense.
And then the offense followed.
Destinee.
It seemed like you always knew where to be on the floor and put in so many buckets.
What was your approach to today's game?
I just thought we needed to get a win.
You need to get a bucket.
I need to do anything I can to get that ball.
So I stood anywhere to get that ball.
Is it natural, the spacing, or is that something that you've worked on?
It's actual.
Yeah, that's my good coach.
Coach, it's your first year with this team as the head coach.
Obviously a young group, a couple ones, two seniors some up, but a lot of underclassmen.
And how did you guys pull this one off?
It's their hard work.
Right.
And then just being a team from start to finish, and never letting up, they grind the whole way through.
And credit to our seniors out there leading them the whole way and our bench great support all season.
All right.
Congrats guys.
Thank you so much.
Back to you guys.
Thank you Greg.
And again congratulations to the South Portland Red riots Karen.
Maybe we can do this again someday.
I look forward to it.
It's the time we get to meet up once a year.
There we go.
The boys.
Double AA coming in here next.
