(Crowd) Our mission is to educat and promote about the use of native plants and natural landscaping.
I am, Cathy Wood, president of the Arrowhead chapter of Wild Ones.
When my husband and I moved here from the Milwaukee area, this is a whole other ballgame up here as far as planting goes.
And I wanted to start fresh with just natives.
Wild Ones is a national nonprofit.
We meet at Hartley Nature Center here, and right now we're here for the winter sowing event.
(Natural sound) I have brought in, and several of us other Wild Ones members have brought in our seeds that we've collected from our own yards.
They're all native seeds.
And that's what people are going to be a winter sowing today.
And they're putting them into milk jugs, and are master gardeners here that are going to help, and then they're going to take those jugs home and put them out in the snow.
And in the spring and summer, they will have native plants to add to their yards.
Normally it's done between December and February, but there are some seeds that don't take as long to germinate.
Anyone can get involved with Wild Ones.
You don't have to know everything about gardening.
