Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipWell, we always love to be here in Elkhart.
And one of the cool things that's coming up for the summer is the art walk, as well as learner on the lawn.
I love it, kind of a coordinated performances, if you will, between all of the arts.
This is so exciting.
Yes, we love it.
We're back with another season of art walk.
It starts the last Thursday of every month, June through October through October through October.
Wow.
So it's not just a summer event, y'all.
It's all season long.
I love it, I love it.
You guys have been doing this for a while now.
Yeah, this is the third year that's been powered by Premiere Arts.
Okay.
and we've been really excited to kind of bring this event to life right here downtown.
We're going to have an artisan market right here on Central green, full of local artists showing off their art and their masterpieces.
And you can even take one home with you.
I love a lot of times we'll have community organizations down here to to kind of showcase some great things happening all over Elkhart all the time.
Absolutely.
And then each one has an amazing theme.
And I'm going to go wait, wait.
Each of the Thursdays has a theme.
Yes.
Okay.
We love a theme.
You know, I love a good theme.
Jennifer, tell us about the themes that you guys have lined up this year.
Yeah, we, I love to bring a diversity of different concerts.
So we'll be starting off, with a Taylor Swift tribute.
And the corresponding theme is in our art era.
That's right.
Oh, yeah.
I see you have your Swifty beads ready.
Oh, of course.
Ready.
We're gonna have these, of course, ready to make at, right here in the artisan market.
So a fun, craft project, if you will.
Yeah.
And there might even be other places to stop by throughout the downtown area.
The merchants, the restaurants, maybe pick up some more.
We don't know.
We're going to see.
Oh, okay.
Exciting.
So that's the first one.
That one's coming up at the end of June.
Yeah.
First, there's a lot of other things to have lined up.
We have the July concert is Nashville Crush, so that'll be kind of a line dancing country, kind of like, in August we have a 70s disco night.
that artist is yet to be announced.
We have a surprise guest.
they are nationally touring 70s disco type of band.
Super excited to have them with us.
in September we have Memphis Underground hard, kind of favorite in the community.
Oh, yeah.
Exactly right.
They're kind of a Motown, funk, pop, that kind of thing.
and then finishing us out in October, is Louder Now, which is a emo pop punk tribute as well, a rock on that.
I'm really kind of excited for that one.
I'm an emo kid at heart.
Yes, that's like my music I grew up on.
So I'm going to be right here at the edge of the stage.
I love it.
And is that happening at Halloween?
That's October 31st, so I have to ask ahead of time, are we going to be trick or treating then to, okay, can we do a really great partnership with Loud Mouth Entertainment?
Who put on a great trick or treat on Main Street every October at Artwalk?
And so there'll be chances are there will be a costume contest, there will be able to trick or treat all down Main Street, pick up some candy, enjoy a great show, see some great art.
Yeah, it's really an amazing night when the entire community comes together and celebrates the vibrant community that we have here in Elkhart, as well as the diversity of art and all kinds of.
Absolutely.
And how fantastic for you guys to put together.
So learn around the lawn itself is all the concerts that are going to be happening.
Absolutely.
So people need to bring their own chairs here.
Yes.
You bring your own chairs, your blankets, pillows even I think we've seen in the past, be ready to grab dinner at one of our food trucks or one of our amazing downtown Elkhart restaurants.
Oh, get settled on the lawn for our concert walk through our artisan market.
It'll be great.
And then all of the art that goes along with a little bit more about what Art walk is for the community.
So our walk is just a chance to grab your friends, grab your family, come downtown.
It's really an excuse to come downtown as if you didn't have enough already all year long.
But it's a great chance to just celebrate music and art.
And because a lot of these artists that we have are here all the time, and a lot of times they don't have a chance to show off their art in a, in a grander scape.
And so we just try to make an opportunity that brings a lot of people downtown that not only love the art, but then maybe they've been waiting to try that restaurant, or maybe trying, to stop in a new shop like Stevenson Street, that Coco Island.
It's just a great chance to come downtown because Elkhart is happening.
You know, some people believe that nothing happens in Elkhart, you know, and this is why I love Experience Michiana, because we can share with you all the things that you can experience in our community.
Definitely.
That's fantastic.
So when people come down here, they're going to be coming down to the lawn care.
But there is more for them to explore downtown, right?
Absolutely.
Always.
We've got plenty of downtown merchants that are typically open later on Thursday nights.
There's restaurants, there's boutiques, there's salons, all sorts of those things.
just take the moment to step outside.
What's happening here on the green, onto Main Street, onto Lexington, all of those great businesses, they've all got wonderful things going on.
As Tanner mentioned, they usually have, some participation for crafts.
They might have different, shows to join in for the day.
They might have an artist a little, a little music component as well.
So we're really excited to see how they kind of partner in and connect with us for that event as well.
And I love what you said to Tanner, because you know, so much time.
We take it for granted what our community has to offer.
And when you have an event like this, it really does give people the opportunity to say, hey, you know, we haven't been downtown for a little while.
Let's go see what's new, what's happening, and what we have to offer in our community.
Yeah, and what's really cool is Artwalk coincides on a Thursday.
It's the last Thursday of every month, June through October.
But the cool things are that the merchants are doing every Thursday.
They're staying open later.
And so it's a, shopping hop.
And so this kind of aligns with it.
And they'll be offering great deals.
And you can always go to Elkhart artwalk.com to find out what's happening that month.
And there's a digital map that you can check out.
And it showcases not only what's happening here, but, easy way for you to find out what's going on in other shops, an excuse to stop by.
And then you can always download the premier arts app.
See here we go again.
Digital now to.
All right.
Just search it up on your app store on your phone, and you can download it and find out what's going on with not only Premier Arts, but there's an art walk tab.
And so you can just always keep plugged in because we get busy.
Yeah.
We forget.
Yeah.
And especially with the, with the concert going on too.
Okay.
If you are like me in a planner, I will go ahead and I will look at that app and I will figure out everything that I want to do priority wise.
And that way I can do some on June, some in July, some in August, and check them off as I work my way through right?
Yes, exactly.
And of course, we're also on social media.
Both are adults.
Art walk and the learner have our separate pages that I call line to talk about these events as well.
So be sure to check out our Facebook page, our website as well, and you guys have some great partnerships this year too.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
No, we are thrilled to be with, the City of Elkhart Redevelopment Commission, and grateful for the Community Foundation of Elkhart County as well as, of course, the friends of the learner for helping us put on this event every year.
Absolutely.
And, you know, overall, I mean, this is really makes a big impact for the community here.
How have you seen it grow over the years?
Well, before we were doing Artwalk in a slightly different way.
And since we've powered it by Premiere Arts, we just see a larger mass of people.
I feel an energy is almost palpable.
you can just walk downtown, you feel that energy and more and more people, as they're finding out that it's a great time, are coming, not only coming back, but bringing their friends.
And we just hope that this continues to grow and grow and grow as the downtown tapestry beacon continues to grow.
Absolutely.
And I think I love that you're starting with a Swifty night.
Yes, it'll be great.
We use that as a leave on the Swifty night.
Oh yeah, it's going to be Taylor Swift, but it's it's a family friendly event.
Exactly.
No, it'll be great.
Taylor Swift obviously has some great songs.
Queen of pop, Queen of country.
wait, is Taylor Swift coming?
No.
Oh, unfortunate.
I mean, yeah, go go find out.
we're going to have, like, a crowd of upset people.
That's not Taylor Swift.
Okay, so maybe that's the real Taylor Swift, but the ambiance of.
Yeah, exactly.
It's always a great time welcoming, inclusive.
So we're we're really excited to be able to bring kind of this diverse selection.
yeah.
What do you guys have this year I love it.
We got some great job.
I'll be watching every single Thursday.
some stuff.
Your voice is going to be hoarse on the Friday.
It'll be great that.
Hey, that's why we want you to come out.
Have fun.
You can get all the information about the Lerner on the lawn and the Artwalk coming up the last Thursday of every month, June through October.
We'll see you then.
Come on out with us.
